I am very
privileged to call the woman pictured here a friend of mine. Her name is Kathy and she is truly one of the most inspiring people I have ever
known. Kathy is a breast cancer survivor. She is a wonderful
wife to her husband Greg, a wonderful Mom to her 3 daughters, an incredible
friend, a devoted daughter, a good neighbor, a compassionate nurse, a fighter, a
winner. Despite her battle with cancer, Kathy is always concerned
about the next person. She has a generosity of spirit that is
immeasurable. An incredible example of that spirit is seen in the way
Kathy has chosen to handle her diagnosis of cancer.
Kathy fought her
own personal battle with courage and tenacity. She is now cancer-free.
Following her own intense and difficult treatment, Kathy could have chosen to
put that chapter of her life behind her and move on. Instead, she chose to
make that part of who she is and to make the battle against this dreadful
disease a part of her purpose in life. Kathy has become very involved in
the Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Click on the Yale

Cancer Center web page. She fought long and hard for the approval of
the Yale Cancer Center so that residents of CT can have the treatment they so
desperately need close to home. Kathy has been involved with the American
Cancer Society's Relay for Life for 3 years now. She formed her team
called Babes for the Battle in 2004 and the
Babes are now 45 members and 3 teams strong.
Kathy is a huge proponent of early detection, genetic counseling and education
and has worked hard toward this end.
The
Babes for the Battle are currently raising funds for the
